Let’s see how I can help

You know something is wrong and it’s beyond what you can help your child with on your own.

You are here because you are searching for help, advice, guidance and some hope that things could get better.

You may be constantly thinking about what to do or worrying about your child. Are they eating at school? Is their health OK? What’s making them irritable and tired all of the sudden?

You might be worried about booking a consultation call- thinking ‘oh I don’t know if this is the right option’ or ‘maybe it’s just teenage stuff, should we wait it out’?

I can tell you there is no harm in discussing those concerns with me. If I don’t think this is the right place for you, I will let you know and help you find what is.

When we start working together, you are no longer walking this road alone. I will be here to guide you along the way. I will give you things you can implement right away to start making progress with helping your child to get healthy.

Are you worried about your child’s eating habits? Are they exercising too much? Only eating ‘healthy’ or ‘clean’ foods? Have family meals gone from enjoyable to chaotic and stressful or non-existent?

These are signs your child might have an eating disorder.

Check here for a longer list of signs.

Eating Disorder Assessment

This assessment is required for every client beginning treatment. This 90-minute assessment will tell us:
1) if your child has an eating disorder,
2)What type of eating disorder they have and their specific diagnosis, and
3) What course of treatment and level of care is best for your child.

The Eating Disorder Assessment looks at all different pieces of your child’s life since before eating concerns began and help me get a better picture of what is going on. I will look at the physical history, including previous growth charts and weight, as well as mental health history, family food culture and body image to get a clear picture of how eating has been impacted.

This information will help us determine together the next steps for treatment, whether that be working with me or me helping you to find other assistance. This assessment makes sure that I provided clients with the best possible outcome for recovery.

If you have already been assessed and diagnosed at another treatment facility in the past 3 months, we can discuss the need for an assessment with EDT.

Family-Based Treatment

This service is recommended for many, but not all families who have a child diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa or other eating disorders. You may already have been recommended FBT elsewhere and are looking for a provider. You may also have never heard of FBT before and are just looking to get your child some help and therapy. We will discuss the pros and cons of FBT versus individual therapy with adolescent eating disorders and help you to make an informed decision.

Family-Based Treatment has been shown to have the best outcomes for children and adolescents with restrictive eating disorders to have a full recovery, meaning life without an eating disorder, not just maintenance. There is a lot of research and information on FBT out there and I encourage you to do your own research.

Supervision

As an LPCC-S, I provide Supervision services to LPCs in Ohio virtually to help them get credentialed as an LPCC or LPCC-S. I provide virtual supervision to therapists living in Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio and all the towns and cities in-between.

I received my credentials while working at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Emily Program. I received my graduate degree from the University of Dayton in Columbus, Ohio.

I can provide knowledge and experience in the field of eating disorders if you are interested. I also have extensive experience working with children from birth-18 in many different settings and with many diagnoses. I have worked in intensive care settings with youth with suicidal ideation.

I also have worked with youth, adults and couples in an outpatient setting. I have worked with children and families from all different backgrounds and levels of SES.

My goal with supervision is to be supportive, empathetic, and provide guidance in the field for young therapists starting out. I want to be more than a sounding board- I want to guide you and support you using what I have learned in my journey to independent licensure.

Visit my FAQ or fill out my contact form if you have more questions.

I know it’s not easy to find the right therapist! There are so many options out there- how do you know who is the right one? My message to you is- Please don’t give up! Please don’t put up walls. Your child needs you to fight for them. Your child needs you to be vulnerable and open to change. Your child needs you to do hard things- and you can.

The hardest part is the first step. And once you schedule the call, I will walk you through every next step.

My overarching goal is to be authentic and create a space where real change is made. My goal is to help you get to a place where you no longer need me.
